Date: 18.07.2008 - 22.07.2008
Barcelona will host the third edition of the Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF2008) from 18-22 July 2008. ESOF is Europe's most important interdisciplinary meeting on science, technology and the humanities.
The mission of Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF) is to provide an open platform for debate and communication for the science community of Europe and the world. It presents and profiles Europe's leading research trends in the sciences, humanities and social sciences. It is an opportunity to discuss and influence the future of research and innovation in Europe.
After a Call for Proposals, the Programme Committee will manage the proposal selection process to guarantee high-quality scientific sessions. The sessions will take the format of presentations and debates, usually with a number of featured panellists. Nobel Prize winners and trend-setting innovators will speak in the Scientific Programme about ESOF2008 themes and the leading scientific questions of the day. The ESOF2008 Programme will be announced in early 2008. It will build on the dynamic ESOF2006 Programme, which is worth reviewing.
CALL FOR PROPOSALS
ESOF2008 invites:
Researchers in all disciplines from public institutions and firms to submit proposals of their leading research in the ESOF2008 Scientific Themes for Scientific Sessions
Researchers, journalists, communicators, policy makers, business people and managers to submit proposals for Society and Science Sessions
Insitutions, associations, researchers, businesses and individuals to submit proposals for Outreach Activities
The Call for Proposals period begins 1 March 2007 and ends June 2007. The ESOF2008 Programme Committee has established a Selection Committee. Chaired by Sir Colin Berry, it will review and select sessions for the ESOF2008 Scientific Programme and the Society and Science Programme from the submitted proposals. Submitted proposals for Outreach Activities will be reviewed and selected by the ESOF2008 Local Organising Committee and the ESOF2008 Project Team. More information is available here.
